Key facts at a glance
A Christmas party becomes more sustainable when there are fewer journeys, less leftover food and fewer materials bought for just one evening. Many measures can be put into practice without much extra effort if they are considered early on.
Journeys: shared transport replaces many individual car trips and sorts out the journey home after an evening with alcohol.
Venue: ask about accessibility, heating, electricity and reusables before booking.
Food: seasonal and regional, a festive vegetarian alternative to the classic, quantities managed through binding registration.
Decorations and gifts: reuse, hire or leave out anything that only lasts one evening.
Programme: volunteering together or a team donation as an activity with purpose.
Communication: name specific measures instead of labels such as “green party”.
