almost 100 years of experience - tourism with tradition
the business picks up speed again. Difficult times – such as the 2nd World War and the associated requisitioning of his vehicles – did not prevent him from rebuilding the company after the end of the war. Buses with passenger trailers enjoyed great popularity. The wide range of services offered by the company perfectly met the people’s reawakened desire to travel. Booze cruises, day and multi-day trips throughout Germany and also long-distance trips to Italy, France and Spain rounded off the program. In just a short time, one of the largest bus tourism companies in northern Germany was created, with over 30 buses and many employees.
is the year Rainbow Tours was born. Also blessed with the innovative genius of his ancestors, the grandson of Bruno Thies, André Schlatermund, in his early twenties has the brilliant idea of winning over and inspiring young people for bus tourism. Together with two friends, he invents short trips. These trips literally lead overnight to European metropolises, where the city is explored during the day and the return journey is started in the evening. All this for an unbeatable price. Rainbow Tours quickly becomes the seventh largest tour operator in the country and the market leader for youth and city trips and summer camps. Also round trips, ski and entertainment trips and even long-distance trips are part of the offer.
Bruno Thies dies. His daughter Waltraut Schlatermund-Thies takes over the business and successfully continues it as a trained tourism expert.
Rainbow Tours is sold – after twenty extremely successful years. In the same year Waltraut Schlatermund-Thies retires.
André Schlatermund founds AGT Busvermietung & Touristik GmbH. A new chapter in the chronicle begins with bus tours and passenger transportation of all kinds as well as a wide range of services in the field of event management. Right at the beginning of AGT, Bruno Thies’ son – Hilmar Thies – joined the company as sales manager and authorized signatory and continuously expanded the company together with Andre Schlatermund.
city trips are added to the portfolio.
André Schlatermund dies.
the company moves from Hamburg-Harburg to spacious offices in the center of the hanseatic city.
Lizaveta Casper – head of the accounting department – is granted procuration for AGT Busvermietung & Touristik GmbH, as well as the transport manager Hilmar Thies, after many years of cooperation.
AGT Busvermietung & Touristik GmbH has seized the opportunity and has undergone restructuring that places the company on an equal footing in both the private and business sectors. Started in 2004 as a family business, AGT has been able to establish itself in the tourist sector in the past. In the last ten years, the business sector has played an increasingly important role within the company, which is why AGT Busvermietung & Touristik GmbH has become AGT Bus- & Eventlogistik GmbH.
